In Case of Emergency Card (ICE)

Plain and simple, an ICE Card is a card you carry with you everywhere you go. If you are ever in an emergency situation and are unable to speak for yourself, your ICE Card holds all the important information required by first responders to ensure your medical needs are properly and safely met. It also holds the contact details of the people you’ve selected to be notified – just as the card says - in case of emergency.

The word ‘emergency’ carries a certain tone, so we’ve toned down the drama by creating cards with a fun, friendly approach. The loveable, yet clumsy, giraffe depicts an ‘emergency’ situation, but delivers the message in a non-threatening way. We believe this creates a card with greater appeal, that’s suitable for all ages and stages.

The concept of storing an ‘ICE’ number in your mobile phone came into popularity a few years back, following tragic events in the U.S. and Britain. Keeping contact details in your phone for next of kin is a great idea – but not without some limitations. Firstly, it’s not enough to just know who to contact. Details of pre-existing medical conditions, allergies, etc. being immediately available to emergency personnel could mean the difference between life and death. Also, many mobile phones may not be accessible as many are P.I.N. or password protected.
